Nauset Kennel was established in 1993 in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan and relocated to Front Royal, Virginia in 1995. Front Royal is 60 miles west of Washington, DC at the crossroads of I-66 and I-81. The kennel is located in the foothills of the mountains forming the Shenandoah Valley. This is the home of many BIS and BISS winning Chinese Cresteds and Chihuahuas. Ch. Nauset Forever Knight was #11 Toy dog for 2000 and Ch. Bayard Believe It Or Not RJR was #9 Toy Dog for 1997.
My first breed was Chihuahuas and I was fortunate to own Ch. Bayard Believe It Or Not RJR who was bred by Melanie Newell. Shown by Kenneth Saenz, Ripley went on to win 8 BIS and become the top winning Long Coat in the history of the breed. About the same time in started in Chinese Cresteds and was lucky to purchase some good bitches from top lines. With this base I was able to breed Ch. Nauset Forever Knight who was #1 All-Breed Chinese Crested for 2000, winner of 7 BIS and is the top male Crested in the history of the breed.
I have a biology degree from Lake Erie College and worked in medical research at the University of Rochester, NY and the University of Michigan. Because of this background I am very interested in genetics and health problems. I was a professional Genealogist for a time after I was able to track my family back to the Mayflower. I now work in a bookstore in Middleburg, Virginia where I am able to keep up my interest in horses having shown hunters and jumpers when I was younger.
